Pioneer Baseball Drops Series Opener on Friday to Chico State
HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay baseball opened its final homestand of the regular season on Friday against Chico State at Pioneer Baseball Field. The Wildcats won 12-3 top open a CCAA series.
GAME SUMMARY |
The Wildcats got on the scoreboard with two runs in the top of the first inning and added another run in the top of the second inning to lead 3-0.
With two runners on base for the Pioneers in the bottom of the third, Luke Brown delivered a single to right center field driving in Danelle Daniels and Jaylen Hodges and cutting Chico State's lead to 3-2.
The Pioneers tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning on a Luke Novitske RBI single.
The Wildcats' offense would explode for eight runs in the top of the eighth inning fo an 11-3 lead and added one more run in the top of the ninth en route to a 12-3 win.
