Pioneer Baseball Swept in Friday Doubleheader at CSUMB
SEASIDE, Calif. – Cal State East Bay played its final doubleheader of the season on Friday, taking on Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside at Otter Sports Complex. The Otters won a wild game one 15-12 and game two 7-3 to sweep Friday's CCAA doubleheader.

Game One – Cal State Monterey Bay 15, Cal State East Bay 12
Although the Otters took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first, the Pioneers would tie the game at 4-4 on an Aidan Morton grand slam to right field.
The Pioneers added five runs in the top of the third inning – two on an Alonzo Guijarro two-run home run to left center and three on Morton's second home run of the game, which was a three-run shot.
Quinn Ayres singled down the right field line to drive in Luke Novitske for a 10-4 lead. .
CSUMB climbed back into the game with three runs off separate RBI hits in the bottom of the fourth.
A pair of bases-loaded walks in the top of the fifth extended CSUEB's lead to 12-7.
The Otters scored a run in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run by KW Quilici, then added two more in the bottom of the sixth, reducing the Pioneer lead to 12-10.
In the bottom of the eighth with the bases loaded, a hit-by-pitch, followed by a bases-loaded walk, tied the game at 12-12. The next three plays, an error, a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly put the Otters ahead 15-12.
CSUMB retired the side in the top of the ninth for a 15-12 win.
- Ayres went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs.
- Morton had a total of seven RBIs.
- In 4.0 innings pitched, Dwyer Lewis had four strikeouts.
The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a Jacob Froess RBI single to center field that scored Jacob Klinovsky.
In the top of the fourth, Niko Mollat singled up the middle to drive in two runs for a 3-0 Pioneer lead.
The Otters scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 5-3 lead, then added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 7-3 lead. CSUMB won 7-3 in seven innings to sweep Friday's doubleheader.
- Mollat went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
