Pioneers Swept in Friday Home Doubleheader to Stanislaus State
HAYWARD, Calif. - The Cal State East Bay baseball team continued its CCAA series against Stanislaus State with a competitive doubleheader at Pioneer Baseball Field on Friday. Despite strong offensive efforts and late-inning rallies, the Pioneers dropped both games — falling 12-8 in the opener and 6-5 in a tightly contested seven-inning game two.

Game One: Stanislaus State 12, Cal State East Bay 8
Cal State East Bay struck early with two runs in the first inning, sparked by a Camron Grant double and an RBI walk from Danelle Daniels. The Pioneers tacked on three more in the third behind a wild pitch and a clutch two-run single from Jaylen Hodges, giving the home team a 5-2 advantage. East Bay went up 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI double from Gio Martini.
But the fifth inning proved pivotal. The Warriors scored seven runs on six hits, including a two-run double from Arthur Navarette Jr., a two-run homer from Flavio Perez, and a solo blast by Alex Solis as Stanislaus State surged to a 9-6 lead.
Stanislaus added insurance runs in the seventh and eighth for an 11-6 advantage.
Martini launched a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth to cut into the lead, but the Warriors tacked on one more run in the top of the ninth on Perez's second home run of the game and the Warriors finished with a 12-8 win in game one.
Game Two: Stanislaus State 6, Cal State East Bay 5 (7 innings)In the second game, both teams got on thje board in the first inning with Stanislaus jumping out to a 2-0 lead, but in the the bottom of the first, Dominick Najar led off with a triple and scored on an RBI groundout from Martini.
The Warriors added two more for a 4-1 lead in the second inning.
Grant launched a solo home run in the fourth to keep East Bay close before a three-run fifth, capped by Gio Martini's two-run double, gave the Pioneers a 5-4 edge.
However, the Warriors capitalized on small-ball and timely singles in the sixth, reclaiming the lead 6-5. East Bay had the tying run on third in the seventh after singles from Amayas Lamar and Dominick Najar, and a walk to Grant loaded the bases, but the Pioneers couldn't convert as the final out came on a fly ball to center.
