MEET RECAP: Pioneer Men’s Track Places Third at Chico Invitational

CHICO, Calif. – Cal State East Bay men's track & field competed in a variety of events during the 2024 Chico Invitational, which took place Friday and Saturday on the campus of Chico State University. Below are highlights for the Pioneers during the two-day meet.

  • Kamron Smith ran his fastest time in the 400 meters of 50.45 seconds.
  • Finishing second in the 5,000 meters was Cole McKain with a time of 14 minutes, 56.39 seconds.
  • Winning the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 9:56.07 was Isaac Tiscareno.
  • Michael Greco finished second in the long jump with a mark of 6.69 meters.
  • In total, there were six Pioneer finishes in the top three contributing to the third best team score in the meet, and second highest among NCAA Division II teams.

The final regular season meet in 2024 for the Pioneers takes place April 26 and 27 in the Fresno State Invitational. A majority of the events are taking place on the second day of the meet (Saturday, April 27), including all track events. Friday's meet activity (hammer throw and invite long jump) takes place at Warmerdam Field on the Fresno State Campus and all of Saturday's events will take place at Veterans Memorial Stadium (Buchanan HS) in Clovis.
