DAY TWO RECAP: Men’s Golf at NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional
RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The second round of the NCAA Division II West/South Central teed off Thursday from Victoria Club. After 36 holes played, Cal State East Bay men's golf sits in third place among 20 teams in the regional tournament. Four of five golfers finished with a second round score under par and one East Bay golfer finished even par in the round. Only one round remains to determine who advances to the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships.
- Cooper Groshart carded a 67 in Friday's second round. Of the seven birdies in the round, five of them were on the last six holes played. He is tied for the most birdies in the tournament with 13. Groshart is currently tied for third on the leaderboard at 12-under-par 132.
- Six golfers in the field are tied for 14th on the leaderboard, one of which is Peyton Hendricks, whose second round score of 71 included three birdies and an eagle. He is one of six golfers with two eagles among the 36 holes played.
- Easton Hether and Adam Brangefalt had under par second round of 68 and 70 respectively. Hether sits tied for 20th on the leaderboard at 5-under-par 139.
- The even par second round by Oscar Blomqvist was highlighted by an eagle on the 17th hole.
- Every Pioneer birdied the par-5 14th hole on Friday.
Through 36 holes, Colorado Christian leads the team scoring, followed by Oklahoma Christian, then the Pioneers. Atop the leaderboard heading into the final round is Baptiste Touchard of St. Mary's (Texas) sitting at 15-under-par 129.
The final round of the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf West/South Central Regional is set to tee off Saturday at 7:30 a.m. from Victoria Club. Cal State East Bay's first tee time is set for 12:40 p.m., with Brangefalt being the first Pioneer in action on Saturday. At a minimum, the region's top three teams to finish advance to the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, which take place May 19-23 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Additional teams to advance are determined based on which regions were represented in last year's head-to-head medal match play. Also, two individual golfers in the region with the highest places on the leaderboard among non-advancing teams will advance to the championship tournament.
