Pearson's Pair of Goals Sparks 3-0 Shutout for Pioneers on Tuesday

LIVERMORE, Calif. — On a warm yet windy Tuesday afternoon at Las Positas College Soccer Field, Cal State East Bay women's soccer delivered a dominant second-half performance to secure a 3-0 non-conference victory over Hawai'i Pacific. The Pioneers netted all three goals in a span of less than 10 minutes, with senior Morgan Pearson leading the charge with a brace.

GOAL SUMMARY
  • EB 1, DU 0 (61'): After a scoreless first half, the Pioneers came out of the break with renewed energy and precision. The breakthrough came in the 61st minute when Abigail Kern threaded a pass to Pearson, who calmly slotted home her first goal of the season to give East Bay a 1-0 lead.
  • EB 2, HPU 0 (66'): Just five minutes later, Lexie Randolph doubled the advantage capitalizing on a turnover deep in the Sharks' half and buried her second career goal to make it 2-0.
  • EB 2, HPU 0 (70'): Pearson capped off the scoring in the 70th minute, to put the match out of reach. Randolph assisted on Pearson's second goal of the day.

Cal State East Bay will return to action on Saturday, September 13 for a Senior Day fixture against Jessup. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Chabot College Soccer Field in Hayward, California. The Senior Ceremony will take place prior to kickoff. Please note that all Pioneer home matches this season are being held off-campus due to field maintenance. East Bay takes on Jessup for the first time since 2008.
