With great sadness, the Pioneer Community remembers legendary soccer coach Colin Lindores, Pioneers Hall of Fame Class of 2010, who passed away earlier this month. He was 84.
Lindores was most known for his coaching in Hayward by leading the Pioneer women's soccer team in 1988 to an NCAA Division II National Championship.
In Hayward, he served as the head coach of the men's soccer program from 1976 to 1989 and the women's soccer program from 1982 to 1989. He briefly returned to the women's soccer program as a head coach from 1997 to 1998.
In addition to the national championship team he coached, several highlights in Lindores' Pioneer coaching career include:
- Led men's soccer to the 1989 NCAA Final Four
- Six straight NCAC Championships in women's soccer
- 1998 National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division II Coach of the Year
- Multiple NSCAA Far West Region Coach of the Year honors
- Five-time NCAC Coach of the Year for women's soccer and three-time NCAC Coach of the Year in men's soccer
- 117 wins as the Pioneers' women's soccer head coach and 146 wins overseeing the men's program
Outside of Hayward, Lindores coached Stanford men's soccer for six seasons, served on the coaching staff at De Anza College and was an assistant coach for the USMNT at the Pan Am Games in 1991 and the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.
