Kuamo’o Collects her Second FloCollege/CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week award
Cal State East Bay's Kale'a Kuamo'o has been voted the FloCollege/CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 13-19.
Kuamo'o averaged 5.63 digs per set to help Cal State East Bay go 2-0 on the week with wins over Cal State Monterey Bay and UC Merced. She added four aces and five assists.
On Thursday against Cal State Monterey Bay, Kuamo'o registered 23 digs in four sets, before posting 22 digs against UC Merced on Saturday. She had two aces in both matches. The junior from Keaukaha, Hawaii continues to lead the CCAA with 4.45 digs per set. She is also fifth in aces per set (0.43).
This is the second time in three weeks Kuamo'o has been named the CCAA Defensive Player of the Week.
The wins moved Cal State East Bay into fourth place in CCAA standings with a 7-3 conference record (10-8 overall). This week, the Pioneers will host Chico State on Friday (Oct. 24) before traveling to San Francisco State on Saturday (Oct. 25). Both matches will be available on FloCollege.
