Alan Sue Named Golf Pride Grips Division II West Region Coach of the Year

NORMAN, Okla. - For the second time in 2025, a postseason coaching honor has been bestowed upon Cal State East Bay head golf coach Alan Sue. The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced its 2025 coaching honors for men's golf on Tuesday, and Sue was named Golf Pride Grips Division II West Region Coach of the Year.

Sue's GCAA honor adds to his 2025 collection as he was already named CCAA Men's Golf Coach of the Year.

Under Sue's leadership, the Pioneers had an outstanding season in 2024-25. To start the season, the Pioneers win their first three tournaments in the fall. The success of the fall season carried into the next calendar year, as the spring season began with a win at the NNU Invitational. The lowest team leaderboard throughout the entire regular season for Cal State East Bay men's golf was sixth place.

The regular season included medalist wins and top-5 individual finishes.

  • Easton Hether and Ananjan Kaushik were tied for third at the Wildcat Invitational (Oct. 7-8, 2024), and were on the All-Tournament Team.
  • The following week, Kaushik was tied for second in the Otter Invitational, and Aaron Lee finished fifth.
  • To finish the fall season at the Southwest Airlines HPU Sharks Shootout, Adam Brangefalt and Hether were tied for fourth.
  • The first individual medal for the Pioneers went along with the team win at the NNU Invitational, as Hether finished atop the leaderboard.
  • In their home tournament, the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, more Pioneers emerged as contributors under Sue's direction. Peyton Hendricks, Brangefalt and Oscar Blomqvist finished third, fourth and fifth respectively on the leaderboard.
  • Hether tied for second in the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout on March 21.

Success in the postseason was evident for Sue as the Pioneers won the 2025 CCAA Men's Golf Championships presented by Under Armour for the second time in program history. Adding to the team win was Cooper Groshart's CCAA Individual Championship.

And Sue's Pioneers were not done in Santa Barbara. Cal State East Bay placed third at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf West/South Central Regional to advance to the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships in Florida.

Postseason awards for men's golfers in 2025 include:
