MEET RECAP: Pioneer Women’s Track Places Sixth at Chico Invitational
CHICO, Calif. – Cal State East Bay women's track & field competed in a variety of events during the 2024 Chico Invitational, which took place Friday and Saturday on the campus of Chico State University. As a team, the Pioneers placed sixth among 11 teams, and third among NCAA Division II programs in the meet. Below are highlights for the Pioneers during the two-day meet.
- In the preliminary heat, Tylar Gallien ran a personal best in the 100 meters of 12.64 seconds, qualifying her for the finals.
- Placing first with the top time of 2:14.04 in the 800ms was Jenna Rodriguez.
- Aleksandra Martinez Ambrosio won the 1,500 meter run in 5:13.71.
- The relay team of Rymiyah Pringle-Hamilton, Maleah Taylor, Sheelah Carey and Gallien placed second in the 4x100 relay in 48.90 seconds.
- Carey placed second in the long jump with a mark of 5.20 meters.
The final regular season meet in 2024 for the Pioneers takes place April 26 and 27 in the Fresno State Invitational. A majority of the events are taking place on the second day of the meet (Saturday, April 27), including all track events. Friday's meet activity (hammer throw and invite long jump) takes place at Warmerdam Field on the Fresno State Campus and all of Saturday's events will take place at Veterans Memorial Stadium (Buchanan HS) in Clovis.

From Cal State East Bay, freshman jumper Julia Carmona was named to the USTFCCCA All-West Region Team for the triple jump.
- MEET RECAP: Women's Track & Field at Franson Last ChanceAZUSA, Calif. - In one final attempt to improve qualifying times for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, Jenna Rodriguez of Cal State East Bay women's track & field competed in the 800 meters on Friday in the Franson Last Chance hosted by Azusa Pacific University.
