DAY TWO RECAP: Pioneer Women's Swimming at NCAA Championships

GENEVA, Ohio - The second day of the 2024 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships took place Wednesday at SPIRE Institute Aquatics Center. It was the first day of action in the meet for Cal State East Bay women's swimming. There were two events on Wednesday that involved the Pioneers.

  • Tehani Kong was one of three swimmers in the 50 yard freestyle to finish in 23.26 seconds in the prelims, which was tied for 10th place, which was fast enough to advance to the finals in the evening. During the evening's consolation final, Kong finished 10th place overall in the NCAA Championships, in 23.20 seconds.
  • By placing 10th, it's expected that Kong will be named a CSCAA All-American in the event later in March.
  • Brooklyn Dressel also competed in the 50 yard freestyle, with a time of 23.63 seconds in the prelims.
  • In the 200 yard individual medley, Kylie Beaudet competed in the prelims, and finished in 2:05.82.

On Thursday, the NCAA Championships continue, as Cal State East Bay is expected to have entries in the 100 yard butterfly and the 400 yard individual medley. Prelims are scheduled for 10 a.m. Eastern time (7 a.m. Pacific) and the finals follow at 5:30 p.m. ET (2:30 p.m. Pacific).
