Kern Scores First Goal of Season on Sunday in 1-1 Draw at DU

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Cal State East Bay women's soccer earned a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon against Dominican at Kennelly Field, with both sides finding the net in the second half. East Bay Senior Abigail Kern provided the breakthrough for the Pioneers before the Penguins leveled late off a header from a corner kick.

GOAL SUMMARY
  • EB 1, DU 0 (50'): After a scoreless first half, East Bay struck first in the 50th minute. Morgan Pearson pushed a quick pass to Kern near midfield, and Kern carried the ball up the left side. She cut toward the penalty area, made some well-crafted offensive moves with the ball, and finished for her first goal of the season, giving the Pioneers a 1-0 advantage.
  • EB 1, DU 1 (86'): Following a corner kick from Janae Schwab, Ayla Moore rose above the defense and placed a header into the net for the equalizer, forcing the match to finish level at 1-1.

UP NEXT FOR CAL STATE EAST BAY

Cal State East Bay is set for its 2025 home opener against Hawai'i Pacific. The Pioneers and Sharks will meet for the first time since 2010 this coming Tuesday, Sept. 9, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. at Las Positas College in Livermore. All Pioneer home matches this season will be played off campus due to field maintenance.
