TOURNAMENT RECAP: Women's Golf at WT Regional Preview

AMARILLO, Texas - The Cal State East Bay women's golf team recently competed in the WT Regional Preview, held at the picturesque Tascosa Golf Club - La Paloma Course in Amarillo, Texas. This two-day, 36-hole, par 71 tournament, spanning Monday and Tuesday, marked the team's second outing of the season. The Pioneers finished 12th out of 16 teams in a highly competitive field.

  • Carlota Eroles led the charge for East Bay, tying for 31st place at +16. Her consistent play throughout the tournament was a bright spot for the team.
  • Sophia Tejeda caught fire on Tuesday, sinking three birdies and demonstrating her ability to adapt and improve as the tournament progressed.
  • Makena Ebster had an eagle in each round on Monday.

Cal State East bay golf coach Chris Oetinger following the tournament:
"It was a learning experience for our squad this week. We felt like our games were in a good place coming into this event. However, a rough start seemed to derail our confidence and we struggled to gain traction and settle in round one and two. It's nice to see the ladies climb the leaderboard a little bit today, but this event definitely set us back in rankings from where we want to be. We will take what we learned and get back to work as the ladies prepare for the National Preview."

Tournament host team West Texas A&M claimed the top spot on the team leaderboard. Gam Songprasert of West Texas A&M delivered an outstanding performance, finishing at -3 (210) as the individual medalist.

The Pioneers are already setting their sights on their next challenge in the National Preview (hosted by UMSL) next week on October 7-8 from Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
