Pioneer Women's Golf Receives Selection for NCAA West Regional
INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA announced on Monday the 48 teams to qualify for the 2024 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships in addition to 24 individual golfers not on teams selected.
Cal State East Bay women's golf received an at-large bid to play in the West Regional on May 6-8. The regional tournament will take place at Brookside Golf & Country Club in Stockton, California.
The Pioneers are the No. 9 seed in the West Region who will compete in a regional tournament field that includes 12 teams and six individual golfers who were not on selected teams.
The top five teams in the West region (four regional tournaments in total), along with two individual golfers on non-advancing teams the West region, move on to play in the 2024 NCAA Division II National Championships on May 21-25 in Winter Garden, Florida.
In 2023, the Pioneers competed in the NCAA West Regionals and as the fourth-place finishing team, advanced to the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships in Missouri.
The upcoming regional tournament will not be the first for the Pioneers at Brookside Golf & Country Club, as the NCAA Division II West Regional took place at the course in 2022 where the Pioneers finished eighth.
Cal State East Bay is coming off the 2024 CCAA Championships presented by Under Armour in which it finished fifth among six teams. Four of the six CCAA women's golf teams were selected for the regional tournament.
