MEET RECAP: Women's Cross Country at Bronco Invitational

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay women's cross country program made a limited appearance at the Bronco Invitational held Saturday morning at Baylands Regional Park.

Madison Armstrong was the sole representative for the Pioneers in the women's 6k open race. Armstrong completed the course in 26 minutes, 53.8 seconds. While Cal State East Bay did not record a team score due to having only one competitor, the event provided valuable racing experience for Armstrong ahead of the upcoming conference championships.

Rhiannon Walker of Clovis Community College claimed individual honors in the women's 6k open with a time of 21:46.7.

The Pioneers will now set their sights on the 2024 CCAA Cross Country Championships. The event is scheduled for Friday, October 25, at Woodward Park in Fresno, California. The women's 6k race is set to begin at 10 a.m. Woodward Park should be a familiar course for the Pioneers as Cal State East Bay participated in the Seawolf Invite/CCAA Preview to open the 2024 season in early September.
