HAYWARD, Calif. - At Chabot College on Friday and Saturday, the Chabot Opener took place, as Cal State East Bay men's track & field opened the 2024 season. A combination of performances in running, jumps and throws accumulated a team score that put the Pioneers in second place among 14 teams, and first among two NCAA Division II teams.

FIELD EVENTS
- Benjamin Chang won the men's long jump with a mark of 6.42 meters.
- Placing second in the high jump, clearing 1.95 meters was Amier Hollis.
- Michael Lantsov cleared 3.65 meters in the pole vault for second place.
- Placing first and second respectively in the triple jump were Michael Greco (13.38 meters) and Chang (12.71 meters).
- In three minutes, 58.08 seconds, Chas O'Bear finished second in the men's 1,500 meters. Matthew Morgon finished in fifth place, followed by Cole McKain in sixth.
- In the 800 meters, O'Bear also placed second with a time of 1:57.78.
- The 4x100 relay team of Jared Giles, Jaalam Jones, Andrew Sandoval and Justin Gauthier finished in third place in 3:31.50.
