Pioneer Men’s Golf in Third After Two Rounds of Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout

ALAMEDA, Calif. – Cal State East Bay men's golf welcomed 16 schools to Alameda for the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout. The tournament is taking place at Corica Park. With 36 holes played on Monday, the host Pioneers sit in third place.

  • Adam Brangefalt shot a day one total of 7-under-par 137 which tied him for second with four other golfers. Brangefalt leads the field in birdies with 15.
  • Sophomore Melker Backstrom shot a two round total of 2-under-par 142, highlighted by a team low score for the day of 66.
  • Easton Hether had two eagles on Monday.

Cal State East Bay sits in third place in the team competition through two rounds. Western New Mexico leads the team competition by 14 strokes over Sonoma State. Tyler Ashman of Chico State leads the individual competition at 8-under-par 136.
 
The Pioneers will play in the final round at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on Tuesday from Corica Park. Tee time is scheduled for 8 a.m. with a shotgun start.
