OVERVIEW AND NOTES |
Cal State East Bay will head to the Land of Enchantment for the NCAA South Central/West Regional. The tournament will take place at University Golf Course in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
This year will be the third time in four years the Pioneers, as a team, will take part in an NCAA Regional. The Pioneers' best finish was in 2017 when the Pioneers finished third in the team competition. Last year, Xavier Coreno and Easton Hether as individuals for the NCAA Regional.
The Pioneers finished fourth in the team competition at the CCAA Men's Golf Championship presented by Under Armour.
GOLFERS TO WATCH |
Ryan Hong – Sr. - Rancho Cucamonga/Los Osos HS
Hong led the Pioneers with a 4-under-par 212 at the CCAA Championship, tying him for seventh at the tournament. Hong played in the 2021 NCAA Division II South Central/West Regional.
Hether has the most recent experience in an NCAA Regional as he competed last season as an individual.
Groshart finished tied for 11th with a 2-under-par at the CCAA Championship.
Other golfers from Cal State East Bay entered: Melker Backstrom, Adam Brangefalt; Aaron Lee is entered as an alternate.
ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT |
The regional tournament field includes 20 teams and eight individual golfers. Seven teams from the CCAA are in the field along with another individual golfer from the conference on a non-selected team.
The top five finishing teams from the regional along with two golfers on the leaderboard not on a team advance to the 2024 NCAA Division II Championships May 21-25 in Winter Garden, Florida.

Two members from Cal State East Bay men's golf received notable recognition, including Adam Brangefalt and Easton Hether.
