Pioneers Place Fourth at National Preview; Hendricks Finishes 6th

BOULDER CITY, Nev. — Cal State East Bay men's golf turned in an outstanding team performance at the National Preview this week, finishing fourth overall in an elite 17-team field. The Pioneers posted a three-round total of 22-under par after rounds of 281 (-7), 279 (-9), and 282 (-6), tallying their best overall score of the fall season.  
 
East Bay's top finisher was Peyton Hendricks, who continued his stellar play with rounds of 69-67-71 for a nine-under total, tying for sixth place overall. Hendricks' second-round 67 featured seven birdies, including four on the front nine. 
 
Oscar Blomqvist also delivered an impressive showing, tying for 20th at five under with rounds of 75-69-67, highlighted by a bogey-free second round. His closing 67 matched the team's lowest score of the day and his 39 pars for the tournament led all players. 
 
Nathaniel Frink tied for 23rd at four under (68-71-73) with his opening-round 68 leading the team.  Adam Brangefalt finished the week even par (69-72-75), tying for 39th, while Easton Hether closed with a solid 71 in his final round to finish six over and tied for 67th.
 
Competing as an individual, Jack Blinderman shot rounds of 76-70-71 for a one-over total, tying for 48th.
 
As a team, the Pioneers' 22-under total (842) trailed only Lynn (-28), Midwestern State (-26), and Missouri S&T (-23). East Bay finished ahead of several ranked programs, including Missouri-St. Louis, Cal State San Bernardino, and Chico State, all of whom tied for fifth at -20.
 
The Pioneers close out their fall next week when they head to Seaside for the Cal State Monterey Bay Invitational at Bayonet Golf Course.
