Pioneer Men's Golf Finishes Second at Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout

ALAMEDA, Calif. - The final round of the 2024 Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout took place Tuesday at Corica Park. Cal State East Bay men's golf placed second among 17 teams in the tournament. 

  • Adam Brangefalt had the lowest score among the Pioneers at 6-under-par 210 (67-70-73), tied for sixth on the leaderboard. He finished with a tournament high 18 birdies. 
  • Melker Backstrom finished in a 14th place tie on the leaderboard at 3-under-par 213. 
  • The lowest third round score among the Pioneers was from Easton Hether, carding a 3-under-par 69 in the round. Throughout the tournament, Hether had two eagles among 54 holes played. 

Western New Mexico was the team champion of the tournament. Individually, Shion Suzuki from Hawai'i Pacific, won the tournament with a final score of 11-under-par 205, highlighted by a 68 in the third round. 

Only two tournaments in the regular season for the Pioneers, first of which is the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational on March 25-26, taking place at Turlock Golf & Country Club.
