DAY TWO RECAP: Pioneer Men’s Golf in Seventh after Second Round of CCAA Championships

SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Cal State East Bay men's golf resumed play at the CCAA Championships presented by Under Armour at Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club. The Pioneers finished the day in seventh place in the team competition, having played a total of 36 holes.

  • Cooper Groshart and sophomore Easton Hether each shot a 1-under-par 71 to lead the Pioneers on the day. Groshart sits at even par 144 in a 17th place tie on the leaderboard as he had four birdies on Tuesday.
  • Also at even par 144 through two rounds is Ryan Hong. Hong had four birdies on Tuesday and his nine total for the tournament is the most among CSUEB.
  • Melker Backstrom holds the lowest score for the Pioneers after 36 holes as he is tied for 14th at 1-under-par 143.

Sonoma State leads the team competition by one stroke over CSU San Marcos heading into the final round of the CCAA Championships. Atop the leaderboard at 7-under-par 137 is Wilhelm Berg von Linde from Cal State Monterey Bay. 
 
The final round of the CCAA Championships tees off at 8 a.m. from Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club on Wednesday.
