Senior Night Sweep for Pioneers Volleyball

Box Score HAYWARD, Calif. - On Saturday, Cal State East Bay volleyball celebrated Senior Night in victorious fashion with a sweep in CCAA action against San Francisco State, 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-15). It was the final home match of the season for the Pioneers. 

Before the sweep, three seniors were recognized for their contributions and outstanding careers with Cal State East Bay volleyball, including Taumafa Tuinauvai, Megan Crecelius and Kara Green

MATCH SUMMARY

The Pioneers started the set on a 22-11 run and eventually won the first set 25-14, as the set point was capped off by a kill from Mia Jordan. Lexi Pagani had five kills in the opening set. Also in set one, Jordan surpassed 200 blocks in her career
 
In the second set, the Pioneers started the set on a 10-1 run. The Gators would close the deficit to seven, at 20-13, but the Pioneers finished the second set 25-15 for a 2-0 lead. Pagani added six more kills in set two. A career milestone was also achieved in the second set, when Green recorded her 1,000th career dig. 
 
In the third set, the Gators would take their lone lead of the set at 5-4 on an Aidan Goodrich kill. From that point, the Pioneers responded with a 13-7 run, and did not look back. The Pioneers won the third set 25-15 to complete the 3-0 sweep on Senior Night.

NOTABLE STATS
  • Pagani finished with 15 kills on Saturday for a team-high. 
  • Alexandria Gloria had seven kills on 10 attempts with no errors for a .700 attack percentage. 
  • In her final home game with the Pioneers, Tuinauvai led the team in digs with 16. 
  • Crecelius had a team-high 17 assists in her final home game with CSUEB, and with 11 digs, had a double-double. 
  • Green finished with 11 digs to surpass the 1,000-mark in her career, as her 1,004 in her career, sitting at seventh most in Pioneer history. 
  • With five total blocks, Jordan had 204 in her career, climbing to sixth most in Pioneer history.
  • The postseason hopes for the Pioneers remain alive with Saturday's win. With the action around the CCAA on Saturday, Cal State East Bay sits in seventh place in the conference standings at two matches out of sixth place with two remaining.

The next match for the Pioneers will be this coming Friday, November 10 as they take on Cal Poly Pomona at Kellogg Arena at 1 p.m. On September 16, the Broncos defeated CSUEB, 3-1 in Hayward.
