OVERVIEW AND NOTES |
For the second time in three seasons, Cal State East Bay softball qualified for the CCAA Tournament. On Wednesday, the Pioneers take on Cal State San Bernardino in a single elimination game with a first pitch set for 2:30 p.m.
If the Pioneers win on Wednesday, they will play either Sonoma State or Cal State San Marcos on Thursday. Thursday's action begins with the four remaining teams and double elimination format.
Last week, CSUEB went 2-2 in the final series of the regular season against Stanislaus State. The win on Friday, in combination with two losses by Cal Poly Humboldt clinched a tournament spot for the Pioneers.

Annelise Garcia – Jr. – UTL – Sacramento/Inderkum HS
Garcia hit .390 this season, fifth highest batting average in the conference and had 10 home runs.
Carrillo hit .298 this season with five home runs and nine doubles. She hit a home run last Saturday against Stanislaus State.
Marissa Quintero – Fr. – P – Whittier/Whittier HS
Quintero went 15-9 this season in the circle with 14 complete games and a 1.72 ERA with 99 strikeouts.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT |
Cal State San Bernardino enters the tournament as the No. 4 seed and had the best team batting average overall this season among the CCAA teams of .312. Tereise Tosi has a .431 batting average, which was second highest in the regular season in the conference. Bri Goris led the CCAA in RBIs with 45.
On March 1, the Pioneers swept a doubleheader against the Coyotes, winning the opener 7-3, and the second game, 14-3 in five innings. The two teams were scheduled to meet the following day, but the doubleheader was canceled due to rain.

- Pioneer Softball Drops NCAA Regional Game to CSUSM on ThursdayBELLINGHAM, Wash. – The first day of the 2024 NCAA Division II Softball Championships started at various sites across the nation on Thursday. On the campus of Western Washington University, Cal State East Bay softball played in its first NCAA postseason game as a CCAA member. In five innings by run-rule, the Pioneers lost to Cal State San Marcos, 9-1 at Viking Field. With the loss, CSUEB will play in an elimination game on Friday.
- Pioneer Softball Receives NCAA Regional BerthINDIANAPOLIS - On Monday morning, the NCAA announced the 64-team field among the eight regional brackets for the 2024 NCAA Division II Softball Championship. For the first time as a member of the CCAA, Cal State East Bay Softball was awarded an at-large bid to play in the NCAA Division II West Regional. The Regionals begin this coming Thursday as the Pioneers take on CCAA Tournament Champion Cal State San Marcos in Bellingham, Washington. The Regionals wrap up on Saturday, May 11.
