Six Pioneers Named to Academic All-District® for Men’s Soccer

GREENWOOD, Ind. – On Tuesday, the 2023 Academic All-District® Men's Soccer Teams were announced by College Sports Communicators. From Cal State East Bay men's soccer, six Pioneers were named to the team for their excellence in the classroom and in competition, including Tim Cerjak, Mateo DiDomenico, Aaron Farnan, Aidan Raftery, Michael Rossi and Luis Sanchez.
 

Tim Cerjak – So. – F/M -  Kilchburg, Zurich, Switzerland

Starting 16 matches in 2023, Cerjak scored three goals and tallied four assists, including one each in the season-opening win over Dominican (Calif.) He also had 16 shots, with eight on net.
 

Mateo DiDomenico – Sr. – D -  Sammamish, Wash

DiDomenico had an outstanding career with the program. In his senior season, he started 12 matches and played over 1,000 minutes on the pitch. He tallied an assist three times in 2023 and registered eighth shots on net. Academically, DiDomenico earned one of the most prestigious awards from the CCAA in 2022 – The Dr. Hal Charnofsky Award.
 

Aaron Farnan – Jr. – F - Fair Oaks

Farnan was an All-CCAA Second Team selection in 2023 after he led the Pioneers in goals with six and he also had three assists. In the season opener on August 31, he scored a goal less than a minute into the season and eventually netted the game winner in the same match. He registered 40 shots with 23 on net during the season with 1,254 minutes on the pitch.
 

Aidan Raftery – Jr. – D - West Sacramento

Raftery started 17 matches in the 2023 season, logging over 1,500 minutes on the pitch, playing a full 90 minutes in 15 matches. On September 7, he found the net for his first goal as a Pioneer in a 3-1 victory at Chaminade.
 

Michael Rossi – So – F – Sacramento

Rossi appeared in all 18 matches, as he scored two goals and had one assist. His goal on September 7 was the game winner at Chaminade. He tallied 17 shots with nine on frame.
 

Luis Sanchez – Jr. – San Clemente

Starting 11 matches and appearing in 17, Sanchez made 10 shots with seven on net in his first season with the Pioneers.
